Custom Blackbutt Staircase with Steel Balustrade, Henley Beach

This custom U-shape staircase combines two distinct builds across a half-turn layout. The lower run is a custom Blackbutt hardwood staircase with open rise treads and no stringer, each tread suspended from a custom steel balustrade that runs down the side and beneath them to create a floating appearance. The upper run transitions to an MDF staircase with a cut stringer and closed risers, finished by the builder in flooring to match the upper level.

The custom steel balustrade on the lower run is powder coated white, with rectangular steel wall rails powder coated to match, utilised on both levels of the staircase. The two materials and two build methods read as a single cohesive staircase through the consistent white metalwork.
