Timber batten screens are one of the fastest growing looks in Australian building, and it’s easy to see why. Evenly spaced timber battens define a space and filter light without closing it in, adding a warmth and sense of craft that plaster or glass can’t.
We make them two ways. As a staircase balustrade, a batten screen is a warm alternative to glass or steel. Anywhere else on the build, the same screens work as room dividers, void screening, or a feature wall that lifts an entry or living space.
Every screen is made to measure in solid Australian hardwood, with the batten size, spacing and species set to suit the design. We design, manufacture and install, so it lands on site built to the plans and fixed properly.

Anywhere you want to define a space without closing it in, a batten screen works.
Yes. Timber batten screens work inside and out. Indoors they hold their look with very little upkeep. Outside, the timber is exposed to the Australian sun and weather, so you’ll need to give it more care over time, a regular clean and re-coat to protect it and keep it looking good.
Yes. Used as a balustrade, we set the batten spacing and height to meet the BCA and NCC, so the gaps between battens and the overall height comply with the current codes.
For batten screens we offer American Oak, Eucalyptus grandis and Pine, each with its own grain and tone to suit the look of the project.

We supply the screen ready to finish. The staining, oiling or sealing is done on site by your finisher, so the screen turns up bare, ready for the finishing coat.
