A balustrade is the safety on a staircase and one of its biggest design features. We build them in every material, glass, steel, timber and wire, so the railing suits the stair and the space rather than the other way around.
Our smart design range is created with Jim Hannon-Tan, an industrial designer who has worked across Melbourne, Milan, Amsterdam, London and Adelaide. It gives us an exclusive set of baluster and post designs that are clean, sharp and well made, the kind of detail that lifts a whole staircase.
Every balustrade is made to measure and built to meet the BCA and NCC, so the heights and gaps comply. We design, manufacture and install, so it turns up right and gets fixed properly.

Timber balustrades
Timber is the classic staircase balustrade, and the most versatile of the lot. It can read traditional, contemporary or ultra modern depending on the profile, and it blends just as well alongside glass or metal in the same design. Turned or square, clear-finished or painted, a well-built timber balustrade holds its look for years. Timber also covers our batten and screen balustrades, a warmer, more architectural option.
Glass balustrades
Glass keeps a staircase open and modern, and it works just as well in a home as it does in an office or commercial fitout. It pairs with any of our stairs for a clean, minimal look, and suits internal or external stairs. We use only toughened safety glass rated to Australian Standards, so it lifts the architecture without giving anything up on safety.
Steel, metal and wire balustrades
Stainless steel is one of the most popular balustrade materials in building today, and it comes in a few forms. Vertical stainless balusters give a sharp, modern look, stainless wire runs light and open so it barely interrupts the view, and metal balustrades bring a more industrial feel for homes or commercial jobs. It pairs well with timber posts and handrails, the balusters come pre-wrapped so there’s no painting, and it’s all quick to assemble and install.
Electroplated balusters
The electroplated baluster range is the one for a statement. A set of designer baluster profiles finished in brass, copper, chrome or unique colours, it brings a warmth and a touch of luxury that plain metal can’t. Ideal when the staircase is meant to be the feature of the space.

Four families: glass, steel and metal, timber, and electroplated. Steel and metal is the broadest of them, covering everything from stainless wire and perforated screens through to classic twisted metal bars. Between them you can get just about any look, from clean and minimal to warm and traditional.
Yes. Every balustrade we build is made to meet the BCA and NCC, so the height, the gaps between balusters or wires, and the loadings all comply with the current codes. That’s the same across every material, and it’s built in from the start rather than something to check after.
Yes. The materials are made to work together, so you can mix them to suit the design, timber posts with glass or metal infill, for instance. It’s an easy way to tie the balustrade in with the rest of the build.
Yes. We can replace an existing balustrade or add one to a staircase we didn’t build. Send through the details or the measurements and we’ll work out the best option for the stair.
We install. We handle the balustrade installation for your project as standard. Some options, like timber, can be installed by a qualified carpenter if you’d rather use your own team, but others, glass in particular, have to be installed by us to be done safely and to code.
Both. If you’ve got plans or drawings, we build to them. If you’re still working it out, our team can help design the balustrade to suit the stair and the space. Either way, you sign off the detail before we start.
A balustrade is a safety barrier, so it’s needed wherever there’s a real risk of falling from a height. As a general guide, the NCC requires a barrier wherever you could fall a metre or more, along stairs, landings, balconies, decks and the like. The code also sets how high the barrier has to be and the maximum gaps allowed in it, and those requirements shift with the building and how it’s used. So while a metre is the usual trigger, your building surveyor is the one who confirms what’s required for a given project, and we build every balustrade to meet the current NCC for the job.
